Meet Dr.
Barnett...
Dr. Barnett grew up in
northern Indiana, graduated from Warsaw Community HS, Indiana
Central
College (now University of Indianapolis), the Indiana University
School of Dentistry and spent two years in the Public Health
Service connected with the US Coast Guard. During his time on
active duty, he was involved in early research that studied
bonded composite (white) restoration material while he developed
clinical skills in all areas of general dentistry. In 1974 he
returned to his native state to establish his practice in Elwood
to serve the community not just as a dentist but also as an
active community member. In addition to his membership in his
dental professional organizations (East Central Dental Society
[where he served as chairman of the Peer Review Committee,
Indiana Dental Association] Indiana Dental Association and the
American Dental Association) he is also involved in civic
activities. He is a life member of Optimist International and
was the President of the Elwood morning Optimist Club, is active
in the United Methodist Church, served on the YMCA board, is a
20 year 4-H rocket club leader and currently works with the
Morresett Center on fund raising projects. He is an IHSAA
swim official and can regularly be seen officiating at both HS
and Jr. High meets in Elwood and the surrounding pools where he
takes special interest in the development of the young
athletics. He is also interested in all other high school
and college sports and can talk basketball and football at
length. He and his wife enjoy walking in the Mini-Marathon
in Indianapolis and the attendant training that goes with it and
they are avid ballroom dancers. They have two grown children
and one granddaughter (watch out for the pictures) all of whom
he takes great pride in being with.

Continuing Education is important to
us.
As new techniques and new discoveries are
continuously adding to our longer life spans and general
overall health, it is important that continuing education be
a part of our practice. It is an important part of providing
the best dental care for the families of our practice. All
staff members participate in yearly educational activities
appropriate for the responsibilities of each position.

Meet our Hygienists...
We have two fine hygienists whose
duties include routine cleanings on both adults and
children, taking a variety of x-rays, the placements of
sealants, and oral health education of all family members.
In addition they help with diagnostic impressions and assist
with laboratory work.
Kim and Sandy have been with the office since 1991 and our
patients enjoy their friendly and gentle care and benefit
from their updated knowledge in all areas of home care
concerning the latest advances in toothpaste, toothbrushes,
mouthwashes and other home care products.

Kim
is an avid fitness enthusiast
who will not only inspire you to floss better but may also
inspire you to take up the triathlon. Kim regularly works
Monday. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Sandy
is a dedicated
mother who balances her profession while attending a growing
number of her daughter’s activities. Sandy’s regular day is

| Meet our Receptionists & Chair Side
Assistants...
Christy
has been an employee for 30
years and can be found most days in the reception area,
but she also helps with chair side duties when
necessary. She spends much of her work time involved
with insurance and other financial matters. Christy’s
influence has even involved her daughter who has joined
the dental profession as a hygienist. Her regular work
days are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Christy is both a receptionist and
a chair side assistant and has had
special continuing
educational training in the following areas:
Dental Computer software (MOGO)
Insurance and
Training and Certification in OSHA, IOSHA and HIPAA
standards.

Resa
has been an employee for 12 years and is the
friendly voice you hear confirming and setting
appointments. She keeps the office on track with filing
insurance and patient materials. Ask Resa about her
grandchildren. She is regularly here on Monday, Tuesday,
Thursday and Friday.
Resa
is a receptionist and has
had special
continuing educational training in the following areas:
Dental Computer software (MOGO)
Insurance and
Training and Certification in OSHA, IOSHA and HIPAA
standards.

Pam
has been with us for 6 years and is also the friendly
face in the reception area where she works with the
computer, answers the phone and makes appointments as
well as attending to other patient needs. She is our
resident HS sports information center. Pam regularly
works on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

is a receptionist and has
had special
continuing educational training in the following areas:
Dental Computer software (MOGO)
Insurance and
Training and Certification in OSHA, IOSHA and HIPAA
standards.

Cheryl
has been Dr.
Barnett’s chair side assistant since 1992. She keeps the
schedule moving by keeping the rooms clean and all the
instruments sterile while helping with all types of
dental procedures and keeping supplies ordered. She
reads Dr. Barnett’s mind with great proficiency and has
all necessary equipment at the ready. She is here Monday
through Friday.
Cheryl
is a chair side assistant
and has had special
continuing educational training in the following areas:
Training and Certification in OSHA, IOSHA and HIPAA
standards. |
Meet Mavis Barnett...
Mavis
Barnett
Last, but by no means least, is our
Jill-of-all-trades, Mavis Barnett (Dr.’s
wife). She has been here since the beginning, and
although her educational background is in
Communication Arts (speech) (which she still uses as
an adjunct faculty member at IUK) she can be found
filling in where ever needed. She keeps the books
and works to keep everyone up to speed with the
computer programs. She is also the OSHA, IOSHA,
HIPAA compliant officer. Her days vary according to
what is needed.
